Kidz Fun Remote Control Wild Runner Cruiser Version 2 in 1:15 Scale Plastic |
This is the second version of the "Remote Control Wild Runner Cruiser" VehiCROSS toys that appeared, about a year after the first. Like the previous, it's 1:15 scale with a body length of around 9" (the 4x4 under carriage is much longer and wider). This also appears to be based on the same Asahi mold used in the very first VX toy made available around 1997. I purchased this around 2009. They've been reissued as "Wild Runner Cruiser" at least four times - I believe this is the second to appear with that name.
This version is powered by batteries and uses a wired-remote control that only allows the VehiCROSS to move forward or backward - there's no facility to make the VX turn as there are not turning components under the front wheels. The headlights also work, an odd detail but I guess inexpensive enough to make available. I believe "Kidz Fun" became a generic discount brand. For this iteration I believe the VX was only issued in red plastic with unpainted body parts, relying on stickers, the release basically offered a red VX and a silver truck with the same remote control components (the entire undercarriage is the same for both). The box is generic with graphics of both the VX and the truck - the retail price was reduced to $14.95.
