Kidz Fun Remote Control Wild Runner Cruiser 1:15 Scale Plastic

Kidz Fun Remote Control Wild Runner Cruiser 1:15 Scale Plastic Detail

I managed to snag these two versions (one in silver, the other in blue) "Remote Control Wild Runner Cruiser" VehiCROSS toys. They're about 1:15 scale with a body length of around 9" (the 4x4 under carriage is much longer and winder). They appear to be based on the same Asahi mold used in the very first VX toy made available around 1997. I purchased these around 2010. They've been reissued as "Wild Runner Cruiser" at least three times - I believe this is the first to appear with that name.

This version is powered by batteries and uses a wired-remote control that only allows the VehiCROSS to move forward or backward - there's no facility to make the VX turn as there are not turning components under the front wheels. The headlights also work, an odd detail but I guess inexpensive enough to make available. I believe "Kidz Fun" is a generic Walmart brand that repackages toys to be sold exclusively in Walmart and Sam's Club stores.
